Thirty miles north-east of Rome and untouched by mass tourism, Sabina is still authentic and unspoilt. Its landscape of gentle hills where agriculture is in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature, is scattered with Roman villas, medieval castles, churches and abbeys and many remains of Italy's historic, cultural, architectonic and artistic past. Exploring the area is very easy using one of our self catering villas as starting point.
The olive trees are integral part Sabine landscape since the times of ancient Rome. Extra virgin olive oil, with its European DOP recognition, is the main ingredient in the local cuisine, made of genuine and country style dishes prepared with the area’s agricultural products. The motorway A1, instead, gives you an easy and quick access to some of the most important artistic sights of central Italy, such as Viterbo, Orvieto, Spoleto, Perugia but also Arezzo, Florence and Siena. Rome itself is just a few miles away, and very easy accessible, in less then one hour, by train or car.

The Santa Cristina Estate is located at 2,5 miles from the quaint village of Magliano Sabina, situated thirty miles north-east of Rome. This small hilltop town has Roman roots (Fundus Malianus) and was founded by an aristocratic Roman family called Manlia. Medieval glory followed due to the town's diocesan connection to the still-intact Abbey at Farfa and hence came papal power and patronage. The town's museum features many Etruscan and Roman remains, whilst a stroll through the narrow and windy streets will take you back to the medieval Italian life.Of particular note is the 15th century cathedral, rebuilt in the 18th century, the Bishop's Palace, the Town Hall and the 18th century church Santa Maria delle Grazie which holds a Roman crypt with 15th century frescoes.

Magliano Sabina is ideal for a relaxing Italian holiday, featuring bars, restaurants, pizzerias, bakers, butchers, supermarket (open also on Sundays), chemist, hospital, banks with cash points (ATMs), post office, photographer, toy shop, clothing stores and ice-cream parlor. There's even a small theater.

BY CAR

From the North on the A1 Florence-Rome
Take the A1 motorway towards Rome and exit "Magliano Sabina". Follow the signs to Magliano Sabina. Once in Magliano, follow the signs to Rieti, and Calvi Montebuono Umbria. After six miles, follow the signs for "Agriturismo Santa Cristina". (Florence - Magliano Sabina 200 km. Approx.)

From the South on the A1 Rome-Florence
Take the A1 motorway towards Florence and take the exit "Magliano Sabina". Follow the directions suggested above.

From Rome or Fiumicino International Airport
From the GRA of Rome (GRA) direction Florence, take the A1 motorway towards Florence and exit at Magliano Sabina. Follow the directions suggested above.

BY TRAIN

From Fiumicino International Airport
A modern metropolitan service connects the airport with the station of Magliano Sabina. The train leaves in front of the Arrivals terminal in direction "Orte". Get off at the train station "Civita Castellana" (1 hour journey), which is 9 kms from Tenuta Santa Cristina.

From Rome
Several trains during the day leave from the main railway stations of Rome (Tiburtina train station or Termini train station) in the direction of the final "Civita Castellana" (from Roma Tiburtina) or "Orte" (from Roma Termini). The train station of "Civita Castellana" is at 9 kms from Tenuta Santa Cristina. The train station of Orte is at 12 kms.
